“”It’s the little things that make a big difference.” I’ve been talking about making this fishbrain video for years. There’s so many different elements to this trick that make it hard to perfect, but they’re unsung. A proper fishbrain is something we take for granted. It’s the go-to trick for almost every photo. It’s more complicated than it looks. I discuss it in the video, so I won’t rant about it here, but with every fishbrain there’s at least 8-10 different movements that have to go right for it to work out. I did forget to bring up not to hang your non-grinding foot below the ledge. I’m bummed about that. Big thank you to Anthony Medina for helping me out. As I mentioned in the video, you need to be able to do most of the basic forwards soul tricks before learning this. I would also learn an easier topside trick before fishbrain. I’ll link the topsoul how-to here: Jumbo: How to Topsoul / jumbo-brand.com / Jumbo products at: oakcityskate.com / I really do love making these. 0:00 Welcome back. 1:02 Prerequisites. 2:01 Skating .2:27 Balance points. 3:37 The start of the trick. 4:20 A box-rail. 5:08 Lock frame, not soul plate. 6:07 Skating. 6:23 Don’t go neutral. 7:13 Lol. 8:25 Little things make big differences. 9:00 The mechanics of grabbing. 10:38 What is farside and lava? 11:38 This rail suuuucks. 12:32 Fishbrain is a little different on a rail. 14:20 This is a Fishbrain. 15:20 Take your time, it’s tough. 16:36 Conclusion.” – jumbo
